Do Natural Remedies Promise An Osteoarthritis Cure?
An osteoarthritis cure has yet to be found, but there are some natural remedies which are showing great promise in not only helping to control the immediate symptoms of the condition, such as joint swelling and joint pain, but also in reversing some of the effects of the illness. Traditional wisdom has always suggested that arthritis is incurable, but that it can be treated to control pain. This may not actually be the truth, although as yet it is far too early to say that there is a potential here to actually cure the disease.
In order to seek a cure for osteoarthritis, we must first understand what it is and know what causes it in the first place. Osteoarthritis is a disease which primarily affects the middle age and over section of the population, as it basically a degenerative disease affecting the cartilage present in joints. It is possible for younger people to suffer from the illness, but only as a secondary illness following the onset of something which destroys cartilage at a fast rate. The cartilage gets worn away more progressively as the disease progresses, and the pain increases.
The pain caused by osteoarthritis is usually accompanied by a stiffness in the joint, and a difficulty of movement. This will worsen over time unless it can be checked and reversed in some way, and the tradition answer has been the prescription of prescription drugs. These drugs are classed as being relatively safe, but it is acknowledged that they do produce some side effects. There is no doubt that long term use of such drugs can contribute to other medical problems.
Recently, there has been a huge surge of interest in natural treatments for the condition. These have been demonstrated to confer some extraordinary benefits, and when used in combination the effect can be striking. Niacinamide, which is a form of vitamin B3, ginger and turmeric have been shown to have an effect in replenishing some of the worn tissue which is necessary for the easy movement of the bones in the joint. Being entirely natural substances, these are not prone to the same side effects.
As well as these, there are substances which promise even more. The most effective of these has proven to be glucosamine, which is a great pain reliever. It also does something which at least creates the promise and possibility of an osteoarthritis cure, it restores the cartilage which has been worn away. It remains to be seen just how effective this substance is at restoration if the disease is caught at an early stage, but for now we can say that it will reduce the pain in very large numbers of sufferers. It may even be possible one day to be praising it as part of that long elusive but newly found osteoarthritis cure.
