The Causes Of Joint Pain And Stiffness, And How Best To Treat Them

Joint pain and stiffness can be both a short term condition which will heal in time, and a serious medical problem which will need continued long term supervision. It can be vitally important to get an early diagnosis, because many of the treatments which are highly effective for one type of condition are actually harmful when applied for another one. There is no need to seek immediate treatment unless you believe there is a break or the possibility of an infection, but if the pain does not ease quickly then it needs to be checked out.

If you have knocked or aggravated a joint, then you can assume that this is the cause for the trouble, but you cannot necessarily assume that there is no deeper underlying cause. If you have got a long term debilitating condition such as arthritis, you are going to need to find out as soon as possible so that the appropriate treatment can be arranged.

If there is joint pain and swelling in more than one place, and if the problem is at its worst in the morning after a night of rest, then there is a very strong chance that the problem is rheumatoid arthritis. This is an incurable condition, but it is treatable in several different ways. It can also lead to host of other complications such an anemia and heart and lung problems. This is one illness you do not want to get out of hand.

Osteoarthritis is unpleasant, but is easier to treat and deal with.
